What is my userID (library card number)?

Notification of holds and overdues

4:44pm 21 August 2013

How am I notified about holds and overdues?
Holds
When an item reaches the pickup branch, notification of the hold is sent the following morning. The notification either takes the form of telephone, email or paper notice. Email and telephone notification are faster as it takes several days for a paper notice to be delivered.

By default, telephone notification is set up on your membership record. If you wish to receive paper, SMS or email notices please contact library staff and confirm your current address or provide your email address.

Please note if your email account is full you will not receive the email notice.

If the system was not able to contact you by phone you will receive a paper notice.

Overdues
Members will be notified of an overdue item 10 days after the item was due. By default, telephone notification is set up on your membership record. If you wish to receive paper or email notices please contact library staff and confirm your current address or provide your email address.

Please note, the telephone service does not give a list of items, please refer to your library docket. Also, if your email account is full you will not receive the email notice.

If the system was not able to contact you by phone you will receive a paper notice.

Final Overdue and Account
Final overdue notices are posted out 28 days after the item is due. This is always a paper notice. The charge listed is the cost of the book if not returned. If the book is returned you will only be charged the overdue charges.

Can I change to get my notices via email or SMS?
Library staff can change your membership record to email or SMS notification. Make sure that the email address you provide is correct.

Do you send reminder notices before an item is due?
If your email address is attached to your membership record a due date reminder is sent 4 days before the item is due. Sign up for Due Date Reminders

What if I haven't received notification?
Please advise library staff if you do not receive notification about a hold or overdue item. We may not have correct contact details on your membership record.

What do I do if I've received multiple calls from the library on my answering machine?
Some answering machines are not compatible with the iTiva telephone messaging system. If the system doesn't register the call, you may get a second call.

What if I receive phone notification for another member?
Please advise library staff if you receive notification for another member. Occasionally members change their address and phone numbers and do not update their membership records.
